My preferred earning style for many years in the Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program — Points and Fixed Miles, which was one of three MyWay earning style options — has been discontinued as of today and is no longer available.
The Points and Fixed Miles earning style option allowed you to earn ten base Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program points per eligible United States dollar spent, plus 500 frequent flier loyalty program miles per stay. Exceptions applied at Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites by Hilton, where you were able to earn 100 frequent flier loyalty program miles per stay.
For additional information and analysis of what this change could mean, please refer to the article which I posted here at The Gate on November 4, 2013, where I stated the reasons why I recommended choosing the Points and Points earning style option — although you may switch between that option and the Points and Variable Miles earning style option anytime you want. However, your choice must be implemented at least 72 hours before your stay.
Although the majority of FlyerTalk members are not happy about this latest policy change to the Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program, how will the discontinuation of the Points and Fixed Miles earning style option affect you — if at all?
