Rapid Rewards A-List Status Match — If You Reside in California

Once your information has been verified, you will receive your A-List elite level status match — and if you fly as a passenger on airplanes operated by Southwest Airlines for either three round-trip flights or six one-way flights by Friday, December 15, 2017, your A-List elite level status will be extended through Monday, December 31, 2018.

Benefits of A-List elite level status include:

  • Priority boarding.
  • Free same-day standby, which is not available at Southwest kiosks — you must see a customer service agent at the airport to take advantage of this benefit. Free same-day standby will be provided for A-List and A-List Preferred members traveling prior to the original scheduled departure, between the same city pairs, on the original date of travel, where a seat is available. On flights that do not meet these qualifications, A-List and A-List Preferred members will receive priority standby and will be required to pay the difference in fare if a seat becomes available. If an A-List or A-List Preferred member is traveling on a multiple-passenger reservation, free same-day standby and priority standby will not be provided for non-A-List or non-A-List Preferred members in the same reservation.
  • Fly By priority check-in and security lane access at these available locations.
  • A bonus of 25 percent in addition to the Rapid Rewards points you already earn.
  • Dedicated telephone line.

Select Terms and Conditions

Registration and promotional A-List status confirmation must be completed prior to booking travel to receive A-List benefits. Existing A-List Members are exempt from the promotional offer.

Promotional A-List status confirmation typically takes place within two weeks of registration and verification process. Log in to your account at Southwest.com to verify your promotional A-List status has been activated.

During this promotional period, you will not receive an A-List card, but you will receive all A-List elite status benefits on all flights booked after registering, when you provide your Rapid Rewards membership account number when booking your reservation.

A qualifying one-way flight for A-List status is a one-way revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections on Southwest Airlines. A qualifying round trip flight for A-List status is a round trip revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal.

This offer is valid on new reservations booked within the promotional time period only. Companion Pass, Southwest Vacations packages, charter, group travel, and reward travel do not qualify for this promotion. Changes made to an itinerary after purchase may eliminate qualification for promotion.

Upon qualifying to extend promotional A-List status through December 31, 2018, you will receive an A-List tier card within 15 business days. If A-List status is earned by flying 25 qualifying one-way flights or earning 35,000 tier qualifying points in the calendar year while qualified for promotional A-List status, the regular A-List status will supersede the promotional A-List status, entitling the Member to A-List status through December 31, 2018.

Other terms and conditions — such as those of the Rapid Rewards frequent flier loyalty program — apply.

Thanks to FlyerTalk member and community director SanDiego1K in alerting the frequent flier community of this offer, you can take advantage of it if you are a legal resident of the state of California.

People living on the west coast seem to be targeted for good offers lately: Delta Air Lines is offering residents of the state of Washington free SkyMiles as part of its 12status program.

even for Cali residents, their offering has too many glaring gaps to be useful for a broad traveler :

    – effectively no transcons to New York (there’s ONE single OAK-EWR flight)
    – no Hawaii
    – no Canada
    – no airline partners
    – no interline
    – no assigned seats

and seriously, free same-day standby that involves an airport agent is a painfully weak offering considering competitors offer free same-day CONFIRMED over web/app without ever having to deal with a human

Well, even if I did live in California, henry LAX, this offer would not appeal to me…

…but I know quite a few people who are loyal to Southwest Airlines — so…

yea … apparently there are tons of people who don’t care about Hawaii and the freedom of boarding at their own leisure (with assigned seats) and still don’t know how to consolidate by having to check 2 bags everytime

Wondering if this is worth it. I usually fly about 3-4 trips a year with Southwest, mostly short-haul flights of less than 2 hours.

    I signed up. Thanks!

You are more than welcome, C Langer.

For those of us that have done the workaround for their companion pass, this is a real coup. I only fly Southwest when I can leverage either manufactured RR points, and most often in combination with the companion pass. Therefore, I have zero status with them. The benefits are nothing great, but if my wife and I can both fly for taxes and 2 CC sign ups at $69 each, the status match is a no-brainer. Better boarding alone is a Godsend. Thanks Brian.

The pleasure was all mine, JakePB; and I am glad to be of service.

Please let me know how you and your wife did taking advantage of this offer…
