Save Up to 40 Percent on Car Rentals With Hertz May 2019 Flash Sale — But Hurry

You can save up to 40 percent on rental car rates with Hertz at participating airport locations in the United States if you book your reservation by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 during this flash sale for vehicle rentals of all classes — except for Dream Cars — from Monday, June 1, 2019 through Saturday, August 31, 2019.

Save Up to 40 Percent on Car Rentals With Hertz May 2019 Flash Sale — But Hurry

When booking a reservation for your vehicle rental, select the blue Save $ Pay Now button and use rate code FLASH. Keep in mind that this means you are required to pay for your vehicle rental in advance through which cancellation fees and no-show fees apply. Taxes and fees are included in Pay Now rates.

Savings — which are based off of the Pay Later rates offered by Hertz — are only for the base rate, which includes time and mileage charges only. Taxes, fees and options are excluded from the discount of 40 percent.

Select Terms and Conditions

Rental car locations in New York are excluded from this offer.

Age, driver, credit and qualifying rate restrictions for the renting location apply. An advance reservation of a minimum of 24 hours is required. This offer is not valid and rate change or additional fees may apply in the event of reservation modification; early or late vehicle return; or if not returning the vehicle to the original renting location.

This offer has no cash value; may not be used with other discounts, promotions or special rates; and is subject to availability, blackout periods and additional restrictions.

Other terms and conditions — including those of prepaid vehicle rentals — apply.

…But What About the Massive Gold Plus Rewards Devaluation?

Although you can earn Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points when renting vehicles through this promotion, the savings is why this offer is potentially attractive — not the points which you can earn.

The redemption of Gold Plus Rewards points for rental car rewards increased by as much as 81.82 percent with no advance warning or notice from Hertz; and weekend rewards were suddenly eliminated.

Additionally, a new and more restrictive point usage cancellation policy is now in effect — again, with no notice or advance warning.

I had to remind myself why I started renting vehicles more often from Hertz: good to great rental car rates combined with neighborhood locations from which I rent. Also, sometimes, Hertz offers good deals outside of the United States — such as when I saved hundreds of dollars on a single car rental.

The only reason why I started collecting Gold Plus Rewards points is because I did not want to pay extra for frequent travel program points earned through car rentals; and if I am already renting the vehicles, I may as well collect the points at no additional cost to me — but I might rethink that position in light of the aforementioned massive devaluation of Gold Plus Rewards points.

Hertz has not wronged me personally in any way, as my experiences have been pleasant; so I am not going to “cut my nose to spite my face” when it comes to the devaluation of points — but I will reconsider patronizing Hertz if I am given a compelling reason to do so.

If you are a member of the American Automobile Association and you want to rent a vehicle for a week, you might want to wait until a sale such as this one comes along if you do not want to pre-pay for the vehicle rental and have the flexibility and patience to wait.

Otherwise, you can potentially save a significant amount of money on your next car rental with Hertz if you take advantage of this promotion — as long as you do not mind paying for your vehicle rental in advance.
