Slight Change in Policy For Risk Free Cancellation?

“A t this time Risk Free Cancellation for itineraries originating outside the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or Canada cannot be completed online. Please contact Delta Reservations at 1-800-221-1212 or by using Delta’s Worldwide Phone Numbers.”

That is indeed the verbiage used on the official Internet web site of Delta Air Lines as posted by FlyerTalk member LBJ, who wrote that “It seems DL has updated their Risk-Free Cancellation policy definitively to allow it for International origin flights” and pointed out that the following content used to be posted there:

“As part of our Customer Commitment, you can get a refund for most eTickets purchased directly through Delta for travel originating in the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Canada. You don’t even have to call.”

Summary

The risk free cancellation policy of Delta Air Lines is amongst the most generous in the commercial aviation industry, in my opinion, with which you can actually extend it to as much as 47 hours and 59 minutes if you are careful as to when you book your ticket. I have liked the risk free cancellation policy of Delta Air Lines since it was first implemented.

I have never booked an itinerary with Delta Air Lines which originated outside of the aforementioned areas and then attempted to invoke a risk free cancellation on that itinerary; but this apparently quiet slight change in policy seems like good news to me.
