…So Who Can I Trust As Sources For Articles at The Gate Anymore?

“The same WHO Chief who is in bed with China?…We should though take whatever the WHO and U.N. say with a grain of salt. They are massive bureaucratic organizations that push for less freedom and more government control over people’s lives.”

…So Who Can I Trust As Sources For Articles at The Gate Anymore?

The paragraph you just read was an excerpt of this comment which was written by Jackson Aimson — who is a reader of The Gate — in response to this article pertaining to the current Director-General of the World Health Organization warning the world that “the world will not and cannot go back to the way things were”…

…and several other comments reflected a similar distrustful and unfavorable opinion towards the World Health Organization in general. “Why would you quote anyone from WHO….Corrupt and owned by the chinese” asked John sousa, who is also a reader of The Gate.

I cannot imagine anyone arguing that the way the current 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic has been handled has been nothing short of irresponsible and horrendous. The pandemic could have been either contained or mitigated and possibly spared the lives of hundreds of thousands of people worldwide — but inept so-called “leadership” combined with the voracity of the lack of veracity of the media in general to churn out sensationalist “click-bait” stories have pushed the fear factor of the general public to a point where people have been begging to be controlled by governments in the name of safety.

At the time this article was written, at least 283,271 people — or slightly greater than 6.91 percent — have died of the minimum of 4,098,018 confirmed cases worldwide, according to this situation dashboard from the World Health Organization pertaining to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus.

Although I have offered my opinions on the pandemic, I have attempted to back my articles with the most credible of sources from what are supposed to be the most respected organizations known throughout the world…

…but I also must admit that I have even become skeptical of them, as I hold them complicit to the state in which society on our planet is in currently. Even though some factors pertaining to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus are still unknown at this time, the recommendations from such organizations as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have caused overreactions pertaining to wearing face coverings and masks and cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing just about everything in sight so frequently that their outer surfaces are wearing away.

If you are a regular reader of The Gate, you might have noticed that its articles rarely use members of the media as sources anymore. I attempt to get my information straight from what are supposed to be the most respected sources available in the world…

…but if comments by readers of The Gate are of any indication, even those sources are not to be completely trusted. For example, Barry Graham opined about Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus — who earned a doctorate of philosophy in the United Kingdom and has been the current Director-General of the World Health Organization since he was elected to that position on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 — that “This organization adds even less value than its parent organization the UN.”

Summary

I want to continue to report on information which can be potentially useful to you; so I am deferring to you as a reader of The Gate as to whom I can trust anymore as a reliable source of information — because I do not really even know anymore…

…and unfortunately, travel is one of the industries which has been the most affected of any in the world by the current 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic. You can bet that travel will not be the same as before, as evidenced by the events of Tuesday, September 11, 2001 — and that whatever will be different will likely be worse with more restrictions and not better. After all, passengers were still removing shoes and carrying a limited number of liquids aboard airplanes greater than 18 years after that fateful day, with no signs of those restrictions disappearing in the foreseeable future.

The floor is now yours. Who would you recommend and trust that I use for the sources of the most accurate information used in articles posted here at The Gate for the future?

  1. Don’t you mean take what WHO and China say with a 10 pound bag of salt, or smarter yet, totally ignore…Both are responsible for many deaths and trillions lost around the world.

  2. Why do I keep getting a message that it’s looks like you have already posted this? If you don’t want my comments, that fine but just have the balls to tell me.
    Thanks

    1. I am not sure to what you are referring, John sousa, as you are welcome to comment here as much as you like.

Perhaps you experienced a technical error?

If you could please send to me a screen shot of what you encountered, I will send it on to the support team at BoardingArea and they might be able to find the answer…

  3. John Sousa, your message was posted, it looks like you might have pressed Submit more than once which was why you were getting the message.

  4. Brian-

This is probably your most important post of your life. And, sadly, there is little to offer you as a solution.

I think, at this point, it’s clear enough that any media that runs advertising, or has underwriters (same thing), is, unfortunately, not believable.

While I admit this seems like ‘painting with a broad brush’ – it’s just reality.
There is just too much of a conflict of interest at heart anymore.

I’m a centrist. Registered independent. Right down the middle on most things.
And, I can’t watch the news. I can’t read anything online without wincing.

Honestly, until there is a factual/contextual/unbiased source of news available – I am simply skeptical of every media outlet anymore. It’s just, lazy, yellow, sensationalist journalism for clicks…

I don’t see how the NYTimes is different than the Daily Mail or Fox News is different than CNN.
It’s all … just… unwatchable, and certainly not something most people should trust without extreme independent verification.

I’ve book marked this post. Hopefully in a few years I have a solution for all this.
I’m working on it, but, it’s going to take time to build that news source we all would like to see.

    1. Our governor says phase 1 will start tomorrow. The county we live in has a leader of the opposite party. He asked the governor to allow the county to make its own decision because the state was too large to have the same rules all over. So the Governor agreed.

By this thinking, the county should also not treat the whole county the same way. In a neighboring state one county is so big that they are treating the west half different from the east half. Interesting though, the county leader wants to team up with two local counties, which seems very inconsistent since the combined area is large enough to be a state!

Today the county leader announced his guidelines, using 3 additional metrics that have to decline, in addition to the 2 metrics the governor is using. He also let it accidentally slip that he didn’t agree with the governor’s decision to reopen tomorrow – even for the rest of the state. So clearly he had already decided he didn’t want to reopen as he chose data points to make it as hard as possible to reopen. Many of the constituents like what he is doing, as you would expect since they elected him.

One has to wonder whether the PPP programs, inflated unemployment benefits payments and stimulus checks are why some people have such a cavalier attitude to reopening. Clearly, even though they don’t want to go back to work, they are not staying at home because if they were we wouldn’t still have rising numbers of cases here.

Of course there are millions of people that are too scared to go out and I haven’t heard much said about the rehab and therapy en masse that is going to be needed to overcome this.
