Starwood Transfer Rate to LANPASS Reduced By 25%
The exchange rate ratio of one Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program point has been reduced to 1.5 LAN Airlines LANPASS frequent flier loyalty program miles — down from two LAN Airlines LANPASS frequent flier loyalty program miles.
The reduction was confirmed by FlyerTalk member Starwood Lurker, who is also known as William Sanders, the Online Guest Feedback Coordinator and one of the official company representatives of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide on FlyerTalk.
Some FlyerTalk member wonder if the change — which is considered to be a devaluation of 25 percent and at one time was considered an advantage to transferring Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program points to LAN Airlines LANPASS frequent flier loyalty program miles — will portend the implementation of similar reductions to the ratios of other airline frequent flier loyalty programs, to which Starwood Lurker confirmed that “At this time no other airline conversion changes are planned. We do appreciate the feedback.”
Still, there are some FlyerTalk members who did not appreciate that there was neither advance notice nor an official announcement of the devaluation, which seems to be a trend lately in the industry of frequent travel loyalty programs.
