Stupid Tip of the Day: Check Your Take-Out Food Order Before Leaving

You find yourself wanting something quick to eat to tide you over until your next good meal. If you decide upon a fast food restaurant to order your food and take it out of the establishment instead of dining in on site, ensure that you immediately check the contents of your order, for you may find when you arrive at your destination that you may not exactly have what you thought.

Stupid Tip of the Day: Check Your Take-Out Food Order Before Leaving

Someone related to me a recent case of not getting for what she paid at a fast food restaurant; and she asked me to spread the word of her experience here at The Gate, as well as take pictures of her food to show exactly what she received. She ordered five pieces of chicken tenders at a location of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and paid $6.35, which included tax.

The photograph below shows her exact order.

Note the two pieces of “chicken” on the right of the plate, which were small and scraggly and little more than crispy fried breading. The three pieces of chicken on the left of the plate were closer to the expected size.

Imagine paying greater than a dollar for each of those pieces.

Another thing for which to watch out is alleged arbitrary pricing: a class action lawsuit was filed against Burger King last year for allegedly charging a higher price on a food item when using a coupon to purchase one item and receive the second item free than when the food item was purchased outright without a coupon. In a wildly unscientific experiment, I tested as to whether I would experience a similar pricing discrepancy; but the restaurant passed its test.

Summary

The woman in question told me that she planned to contact either the restaurant or the corporate headquarters about what happened. I have received no word at this time as to whether the matter had been resolved.

I do not eat food from Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen; so I did not test the specific location by purchasing the same meal to see if I experienced a similar result.

If you find yourself taking food out from a restaurant, be sure to first carefully check your food order prior to leaving the establishment so that it may be corrected before you waste fuel and time arriving at your destination.
