Sunday Morning Photograph January 2 2022: A Colorfully Cloudy Sunrise.

No, you will not see the sun in this photograph.

No two sunrises are ever exactly the same; but when people think of sunrises, they typically think of those which contain the view of the sun itself — either partially obscured by the horizon of land or water; or just above the horizon — but some of the best sunrises involve clouds…

…and this particular sunrise is no exception: I stepped outside one recent winter morning and saw the clouds in the partially overcast sky colored purplish-red and lavender.

Sunrises — as well as sunsets — are some of the most spectacular displays which nature has to offer. They are typically full of color but yet quiet. They can be dramatic, subdued, or appear to resemble an artistic painting. Sometimes objects — such as trees, buildings, animals, people, or power lines as five of countless examples — become elements which are overall incorporated into the sunrise or sunset. Although they occur every day — sometimes completely obscured by clouds — the way they are presented is usually unknown until they unfold right before our eyes.

Please read this article here at The Gate for an array of photographs taken by me which show both sunrises and sunsets from all over the world.

Final Boarding Call

I really like capturing a small slice of life with my camera whenever I travel. To me, that tells a story more than photographs at a popular “tourist trap” to which everyone flocks and has seen countless times. This photograph is one of those small slices of life, in my opinion…

…and I especially like photographing what nature has to offer — although the photograph does not always properly translate the actual event.
