Richard H. Anderson has been named the next president and chief executive officer of Amtrak who will eventually replace Wick Moorman, who is the current chief executive officer — and Wednesday, July 12, 2017 will be the first day on which Anderson reports to Amtrak.

At least five people were killed and 65 people were injured after all seven cars of a train which operated as Amtrak Northeast Regional Train 188 — which was carrying 238 passengers and five crew members along what is known as the Northeast Corridor line — derailed and rolled onto its side in a train crash north of Philadelphia shortly after 9:00 in the evening on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
Dozens of the injured passengers were taken to several local hospitals, according to multiple sources. At least six of those who were injured are listed in critical condition.
