Share Fares: Save Up to 35 Percent Off Four Tickets With Amtrak

You and up to a maximum of three friends, family members, co-workers — or a combination thereof — can save up to a total of 35 percent with a new initiative from Amtrak called Share Fares, through which the more companions you have traveling with you, the more you save money on train fares.

In order to take advantage of Share Fares — which was introduced earlier this week — you must book your reservations at least three days prior to the start of travel.

Former Delta CEO Richard Anderson Named President and CEO of Amtrak

Richard H. Anderson has been named the next president and chief executive officer of Amtrak who will eventually replace Wick Moorman, who is the current chief executive officer — and Wednesday, July 12, 2017 will be the first day on which Anderson reports to Amtrak.

Five Dead, 65 Injured in Train Crash in Philadelphia

At least five people were killed and 65 people were injured after all seven cars of a train which operated as Amtrak Northeast Regional Train 188 — which was carrying 238 passengers and five crew members along what is known as the Northeast Corridor line — derailed and rolled onto its side in a train crash north of Philadelphia shortly after 9:00 in the evening on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.

Dozens of the injured passengers were taken to several local hospitals, according to multiple sources. At least six of those who were injured are listed in critical condition.
