Zaharie Ahmad Shah was the captain of the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft which operated as Malaysia Airlines flight 370 when it disappeared early in the morning on Saturday, March 8, 2014 somewhere over the Gulf of Thailand as it was carrying 227 passengers and 12 members of the flight crew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

No one survived the demise of the aircraft, whose parts have been sporadically found — but that demise might have not been an accident.
