How do you think you did on the quiz?

Some of the hotel brands listed above are rather obvious as to which lodging company they belong; but others are certainly not so obvious.

I did not include such lodging companies as Meliá Hotels and Resorts, which has a limited footprint; or casino companies whose brands are as few as one hotel property.

I am considering writing an article to follow up this article pertaining to whether or not too many hotel brands exist — as well as whether or not enough differentiation exists between some of those brands — but I would first like to know your thoughts about hotel brands if you could please post them in the Comments section below; and you may be quoted in that aforementioned future article…

Sorry but it’s not really a test or quiz (because there’s no real test and no scoring); it seems more like affiliate linking run amok.

    1. Brian Cohen says:

I only receive a commission if someone purchases anything through those affiliate links, Matthew Worthington — and not all of the links are affiliate links. Nice try, though.

So…did you already guess all of the answers correctly?

  2. MW says:

I did get most right but my point wasn’t that you were linking to affiliate links but that the sheer mass of looks just if that visual going for it.

    1. Brian Cohen says:

Ah…now I understand what you mean, MW. Please accept my apologies for initially misunderstanding you.

I guess my thinking was supplying links to give readers places to go to find out the answers easier. I thought about an answer key at the bottom of the article; but with 166 brands, I thought that might have been awkward for readers going back and forth.

Ironically, the point of the article was the absurdity of 166 brands for nine lodging chains — and the number seems to keep growing.

Do you think I should have just left the links out; and what do you believe might have been a better idea?

  3. MW says:

I think the point of this all being absurd was lost in the mess of links

I would have done an interactive quiz. I just saw one on boarding area that looked good and was far less daunting http://www.frequentbusinesstraveler.com/2019/04/take-our-spring-travel-quiz-are-you-smarter-than-a-diamond-guest/

    1. Brian Cohen says:

That is not a bad idea, MW; but I currently do not have the software to create an interactive quiz.
