Transfer LifeMiles and Recipient Receives Double the Amount

Passengers board this Airbus A320 aircraft — which still sports the TACA livery but is now operated by Avianca — before dawn early one morning at Jorge Chávez International Airport which serves Lima. Through March 17, 2014, for every 1,000 LifeMiles transferred from your account, the recipient will receive a 100 percent bonus with this promotion — capped at a maximum of transferring 75,000 LifeMiles per transaction —by Avianca.
The cost to you to transfer your LifeMiles is $15.00 in United States dollars per 1,000 LifeMiles — essentially valuing them at 1.5 cents per LifeMile.
There is a transfer fee of $17.70 — including local taxes — in United States dollars.
The minimum amount of LifeMiles you can transfer in this promotion is 1,000 LifeMiles.
While this can be a great deal for award travel on airlines which are members of Star Alliance, FlyerTalk members are still wary from two perceived devaluations within a week this past May — one pertaining to changes in the award chart for the redemption of LifeMiles with no advanced warning, announcement or notice; and the other regarding increased expense with using the cash and miles option with no advanced warning, announcement or notice.
Say what you will about the announcement from Delta Air Lines pertaining to the new SkyMiles award redemption chart effective as of January 1, 2015: at least that was announced months in advance.
The amount of money paid for the transfer of LifeMiles is not refundable; and the LifeMiles transferred through this promotion do not apply to achieve elite status. Other restrictions, terms and conditions apply.
