Travel Alert April 2018: The Last Hurrah of Winter in the Northeastern United States?

More snow and cold air is expected for the northeastern United States through the weekend from Milwaukee to Albany to Portland — and a few parts of southeastern Canada will be affected as well from Toronto to Montréal to Québec City all the way to western Nova Scotia.

On the bright side, few areas should experience no more than three inches of snow from this hopefully last round of winter weather in these areas.

As the weekend approaches, the snow — which is forecast to accumulate as much as 12 inches — is expected to affect cities such as Louisville, Charleston, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Hartford, Providence, Newark, Albany and Baltimore.

Flight Waivers, Delays and Cancellations

If you are traveling to the northeastern United States, expect delays and cancellations of flights. Keep up to date on the latest information pertaining to this winter weather system which may adversely affect your travel plans. If you have a flight scheduled, your flight may be delayed or canceled — and you may be eligible for a waiver of a fee to change your itinerary. If you are driving in any of the affected areas, watch out for deteriorating weather conditions and traffic problems.

Here are six airlines which have issued travel alerts as a result of this weather system:

Summary

Expect additional airlines to issue travel alerts within the next 48 hours as the storm ventures eastward — and if or when that happens, I intend to pass the updated information along to you.

In the meantime, be sure to contact your airline or transportation provider for the latest information pertaining to your travels — if they are adversely affected — and please: travel safely.
