Travel Alert April 2019: Snow to Affect Chicago and Midwestern United States

If the midwestern United States is in your travel plans over this weekend, you may want to consider delaying your travel — or, at least, keep yourself updated as to the latest information pertaining to the weather — due to what will be the equivalent of winter weather; but in April.

Travel Alert April 2019: Snow to Affect Chicago and Midwestern United States

A narrow band of snow is expected to fall from a small area of extreme eastern Montana all the way to central New York State.

Although some local areas could experience as much as ten inches of snow, cities in which up to six inches of snow is forecast include Chicago, Kalamazoo, Milwaukee, Rochester, Battle Creek and Madison by the end of today, Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Other cities in which wintry precipitation is predicted include Syracuse, Detroit, Buffalo, Erie and Toronto; but that could be in the form of a mixture of snow and rain.

Flight Waivers, Delays and Cancellations

If the midwestern United States is in your travel plans over the weekend, expect delays and cancellations of flights. Keep up to date on the latest information pertaining to the inclement weather which may affect your travel plans. Better yet, postponing or canceling your trip might be a better option — no matter which mode of travel you plan on taking.

If you have a flight scheduled, your flight may be delayed or canceled — and you may be eligible for a waiver of a fee to change your itinerary. If you are driving in any of the affected areas, watch out for deteriorating weather conditions and traffic problems.

Here are four airlines which have issued travel alerts as a result of this weather system:
