Travel Alert February 2020: Winter Weather to Affect Western and South Central Regions of the United States

If the western and south central regions of the United States are in your travel plans over the next few days, you may want to consider delaying your travel — or, at least, keep yourself updated as to the latest information pertaining to the weather — due to a winter storm.

Travel Alert February 2020: Winter Weather to Affect Western and South Central Regions of the United States

A winter storm is tracking across the Rocky Mountain region of the United States, as snow is expected from the Sierra Nevada mountains of eastern California all the way to Lake Michigan; and from southwestern New Mexico to southern Montana.

Up to 30 inches of snow can potentially accumulate in local areas of much of central Wyoming, which includes Casper; while Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, and other portions of Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado can expect up to a foot of snow.

An accumulation of up to six inches of snow can occur in such cities as Denver and Colorado Springs; while up to three inches of snow is forecast for such cities as Wichita, Lubbock, Santa Fe, Saint Louis, Oklahoma City, and Kansas City.

Frigid air is expected to be ushered in behind this winter storm system from Seattle to western North Dakota and as far south as northern Arizona; with gusty winds which will feel significantly colder than the ambient temperatures — but this cold wave will not last long.
