Travel Alert January 2019: Winter Weather to Impact Colorado

If much of the state of Colorado is in your travel plans over the next couple of days, you may want to consider delaying your travel — or, at least, keep yourself updated as to the latest information pertaining to the weather — due to the effects resulting from winter weather.

Travel Alert January 2019: Winter Weather to Impact Colorado

Temperatures have been as high as 63 degrees Fahrenheit recently in areas of Colorado — but they will drop to as low as 18 degrees Fahrenheit in the greater Denver metropolitan area over the next couple of days. As much as three inches of snow is forecast to blanket Denver; but as much as a foot of snow is expected in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

As a result, travel conditions will deteriorate to the point of potentially becoming too dangerous; and flights are expected to be delayed or canceled.

Flight Waivers, Delays and Cancellations

If the state of Colorado is in your travel plans over the next couple of days, expect delays and cancellations of flights. Keep up to date on the latest information pertaining to this winter weather system which may adversely affect your travel plans. Better yet, postponing or canceling your trip might be a better option — no matter which mode of travel you plan on taking.

If you have a flight scheduled, your flight may be delayed or canceled — and you may be eligible for a waiver of a fee to change your itinerary. If you are driving in any of the affected areas, watch out for deteriorating weather conditions and traffic problems.
