Travel Alert March 2018: Winter Weather to Impact London and Amsterdam

If London and Amsterdam are in your travel plans over the next few days, you may want to consider delaying your travel — or, at least, keep yourself updated as to the latest information pertaining to the weather — due to the effects resulting from a winter storm.

Travel Alert March 2018: Winter Weather to Impact London and Amsterdam

Strong winds are expected for Amsterdam and the southern United Kingdom which are considered unfavorable for air travel; while cities such as London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham are forecast to experience frigid cold weather as low as seven degrees below zero Celsius — as well as frequent snow showers.

As much as eight inches of snow is expected for the higher elevations of portions of England, Wales and Scotland.

Just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day, snow showers are also expected in Belfast and Dublin.

Flight Waivers, Delays and Cancellations

If you are traveling to London or Amsterdam over the next few days, expect delays and cancellations of flights. Keep up to date on the latest information pertaining to this winter weather system which may adversely affect your travel plans. Better yet, postponing or canceling your trip might be a better option — no matter which mode of travel you plan on taking.

If you have a flight scheduled, your flight may be delayed or canceled — and you may be eligible for a waiver of a fee to change your itinerary. If you are driving in any of these areas, watch out for deteriorating weather conditions and traffic problems.

Expect additional airlines to issue travel alerts within the next 24 hours — and if or when that happens, I intend to pass the updated information along to you.

In the meantime, be sure to contact your airline or transportation provider for the latest information pertaining to your travels — if they are adversely affected — and please: travel safely.

    As cold as seven degrees Celsius? That’s not very cold…Did you mean -7 degrees Celsius?

      Yes, I did mean -7° Celsius, Kelvin — and I see that Celsius was spelled incorrectly as well.

      As Fahrenheit know, I thought I typed the words below zero. I have since corrected the errors. Thank you for catching that error.

      I hope I do not get a negative Centigrade as a result…
