Travel Alert October 2019: Civil Unrest in Barcelona

The United States Embassy in Spain has issued this official demonstration alert for today, Monday, October 14, 2019…

Demonstration activity has disrupted services and transportation around Barcelona’s El Prat airport, including closures of roads leading to the airport. There are reports of conflicts between demonstrators and law enforcement.

No official security alert has been issued as a result of the civil unrest; but increased caution should be exercised due to terrorism.

Flight Waivers, Delays and Cancellations

If you are traveling to Spain — particularly Barcelona — this week, expect delays and cancellations of flights.
