Two Confusing Delta Award Sales July 25 2019: As Low as 15,000 SkyMiles Round Trip Worldwide

…and with this SkyMiles sale, you can redeem as few as 15,000 SkyMiles in celebration of the anniversary of 223 years since the first United States passport was issued in 1796. This award sale is in effect through Monday, July 29, 2019, which is the last day when you can redeem your SkyMiles for award travel.

The differences between this SkyMiles award sale and the original SkyMiles award sale is that two flights have been added; the lowest amount of SkyMiles to be redeemed increased from 12,000 SkyMiles to 15,000 SkyMiles; many of the travel periods have been shortened by one day; and Seoul and Tokyo are no longer included as destinations — probably because they are currently covered by the other aforementioned sale.

Cancellations, Refunds, Changes, Transfers, and Other Terms and Conditions

Refunds are not permitted on tickets except in accordance with the cancellation policy of Delta Air Lines.

Fees may apply for downgrades or reissued tickets and itinerary changes.

Changes to award tickets must occur at least 72 hours prior to the departure time of the flight being changed. Award tickets booked within 72 hours of departure are not refundable and cannot be redeposited or reissued unless prohibited by local law or within the risk-free cancellation period. No changes will be permitted to the originating flight of award tickets booked within 72 hours; however, changes to the return are permitted if the return flight is not within 72 hours and the change is made at least 72 hours prior to flight departure. Fees apply for any changes; and taxes and fees will apply. Voluntary changes to award tickets after this promotion has ended may result in an increase in the cost of SkyMiles.

Promotional redemption amounts are subject to availability and seats available at promotional award prices are limited. Pay with Miles tickets are not eligible for promotional redemption amounts.

This offer cannot be transferred.

Summary

Do not confuse these sales with the monthly SkyMiles sale, which is expected sometime next month. These two SkyMiles award sales are more than confusing enough.

I have no idea what is going on at Delta Air Lines with these SkyMiles sales and who took over providing the information; but something needs to be fixed there. I prefer when an actual date was given as to the last day one can purchase tickets and book the reservations for flights. This quiet obfuscation of the shuffling of travel periods is extremely confusing — especially when the two concurrent SkyMiles sales are similar.

These sales are unusual in that flights are not to one particular region; but rather to select destinations scattered around the world. Use the former award chart shown above loosely as a reference to see whether or not the flight route in which you are interested is a comparably good deal.
