US Airways and American Merger Approved

Creating the world’s largest airline, American Airlines and US Airways agreed to a merger after board approval at both companies late Wednesday.
The new airline will keep the American Airlines name. Current US Air CEO, Doug Parker, will become the new airline’s chief executive. American’s CEO will become the chairman.

The deal has been in the works since last summer. An official statement is expected to be made Thursday morning.
