“O ne of the affected restaurants is Prime, which is a steak and sushi restaurant located in Lenox Mall in Atlanta that was popular amongst FlyerTalk members.”
I wrote that statement in this article which reported on the sudden closure of a chain of upscale concept restaurants in the Atlanta area operated by Here To Serve Restaurants; and Prime restaurant was one of those casualties.
That news caused me to wax nostalgic and prompted me to find the photographs of the part of the Delta Air Lines FlyerTalk event which I co-organized with Steven Klamon back in June of 2009; and here are the photographs from that portion of the event which included dinner at Prime on the evening of Friday, June 26, 2009.
Steven Klamon greeted FlyerTalk members on the upper level in Lenox Mall in Atlanta just outside of Prime, where the restaurant had space which it used similar to an indoor patio.
A presentation from Gogo was being offered — along with some goodies — prior to dinner.
FlyerTalk members gathered in the indoor patio area occupied at that time by Prime, where normally restaurant patrons would wait with a drink or appetizers if no empty table was available.
Assorted hors d’oeuvres were served on the long table with the white tablecloth on the extreme left side of the above photograph.
FlyerTalk members mingled in the indoor patio area prior to the official presentation from Gogo…
…as well as grazed on appetizers and drank their favorite beverages — alcoholic or without alcohol.
Darren Waxman — who was the director of e-commerce and user experience for Gogo at that time — began his presentation…
…and FlyerTalk members listened intently — well…at least many of them listened intently…
The presentation was rather informal…
…although it did contain a slide show.
I first was introduced to Prime years ago by FlyerTalk member belle3388. Her husband was with us when I dined there for the first time…
…and ever since that night, it had become a favorite place for me to dine.
Since then, FlyerTalk members from all over the United States and around the world have dined at Prime…
…so it was only natural that dining at Prime became part of the Delta Air Lines FlyerTalk events of 2009 and 2010.
I intend to post another article with photographs of FlyerTalk members dining at Prime at the Delta Air Lines FlyerTalk Event of 2010, which occurred five years ago this month.
The actual restaurant area of Prime was through the windows behind the presentation, with the entrance to the restaurant beyond the left edge of the above photograph.
By the way: so many FlyerTalk members dined at Prime at the Delta Air Lines FlyerTalk Event in 2010 that the restaurant had to shut down to accommodate all of us as a private party, as the entire restaurant became our private room.
Darren Waxman finished up his presentation…
…which meant that it was time to enter the restaurant.
Hungry people were streaming through the entrance of the restaurant from the indoor patio area, ready for dinner.
Steven Klamon — who co-organized the Delta Air Lines FlyerTalk Event of 2009 and 2010 with me and wore an unmistakably bright orange shirt — went around to all of the tables to greet the guests.
The late Karen Cantu — also known as FlyerTalk member KLC — is seated on the left, third from the close end of the table. She passed away in August of 2012.
One signature of Prime was the blue water glasses.
The upper center of the above photograph shows an open curved area, behind which is where the food was prepared and cooked.
The two wood and glass doors at the rear of the restaurant — closed in the above photograph — led to an enclosed room where private events and gatherings were held; but our group was obviously too large for that.
In the background is the bar and sushi area.
I never had the sushi at Prime; but then again, I never had a bad meal at Prime.
Prime was a restaurant which was an interesting combination of both upscale and casual.
I personally would have matched their steaks — especially their filet mignon — against those offered by the best restaurants and steakhouses within the Atlanta metropolitan area…
…and every single FlyerTalk member who has ever joined me for dinner there — and they literally count in the hundreds — has enjoyed the food and service which was offered there.
Our group used up four long tables — again, too many people to use the private room at the rear of the restaurant.
The above photograph shows the front of the restaurant, which was located in the western corner on the upper level of Lenox Mall…
…which is why the restaurant was able to have large windows, which overlooked part of the upscale Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.
Two veteran members of FlyerTalk became impromptu models who showed off there luscious desserts…
…and this is the dessert I chose.
FlyerTalk members — such as the woman on the left, who coined the name Deltalina for that famous flight attendant from the original version of the current series of safety videos for Delta Air Lines — were not the only people who dined at Prime that evening. The five people on the right were employees of Delta Air Lines at the time.
I remember that event fondly; and I will miss patronizing Prime…
