Partner Earnings Changes With Hilton Honors

The earning of some of the loyalty program miles of partners with Hilton Honors changes as of tomorrow, Monday, April 2, 2018 — most of them with airline partners — but this has nothing to do with the elimination of the beloved “Double Dip” feature which has long been a part of Hilton Honors.

Partner Earnings Changes With Hilton Honors

Although two ways with which you can earn frequent flier loyalty program miles will still exist with the Hilton Honors program — which includes special limited time offers and conversions of Hilton Honors points to airline miles — the total of 22 changes which will take effect include nine new partners; eleven loyalty programs which are no longer partners; and improved exchange rates with two airline partners.

Nine New Airline Partners and Their Exchange Rates

Hilton Honors added nine new airline partners — and their exchange rates are:

  • Air Asia 10,000 Hilton Honors points = 2,000 Air Asia Big points
  • Asiana Airlines 10,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,000 Asiana Club miles
  • China Eastern Airlines 10,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,000 China Eastern miles
  • Emirates Airline 10,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,000 Emirates miles
  • Eva Air 1,000 Hilton Honors points = 100 Eva Bonus miles
  • Finnair 5,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,000 FinnairPlus miles
  • Garuda Indonesia 10,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,000 GarudaMiles
  • Scandinavian Airlines or SAS 8,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,000 EuroBonus points
  • Turkish Airlines 10,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,000 Miles&Smiles miles

No Longer Partners With Hilton Honors

…as well as eleven loyalty programs which are no longer partners of Hilton Honors effective as of tomorrow:

  • Air Baltic
  • Air China
  • airberlin TopBonus
  • China Southern Airlines
  • Czech Airlines
  • Gulf Air
  • JetBlue Airways
  • Multiplus
  • OK Cashbag
  • SriLankan Airlines
  • Thai Airways

Earning Rates Improved With Two Partner Airlines

Effective tomorrow, the earning rates of two frequent flier loyalty programs will improve.

  • Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS You can exchange 5,000 Hilton Honors points to 625 Miles & More miles — whereas the old exchange rate was 10,000 Hilton Honors points for 1,000 Miles & More miles
  • Singapore Airlines You can exchange 4,000 Hilton Honors points to 500 KrisFlyer miles — whereas the old exchange rate was 10,000 Hilton Honors points for 1,000 KrisFlyer miles.

Summary

For those who will lament the end of the Double Dip benefit as it heads on off into the sunset, this announcement could serve as a painful reminder of the loss of what was a unique benefit in frequent guest loyalty programs — similar to rubbing salt in a wound, I suppose — although one of the clarifications from Hilton Honors does state that there are still two ways you can earn frequent flier loyalty program miles with Hilton Honors.
