Shower Gel? Conditioner? Who Knows What is In This Wall Dispenser?

What is in the wall dispenser in your hotel room bathroom?

An increasing number of hotel and resort properties have been replacing amenities which are designed to be used per guest in the bathrooms of guest rooms with dispensers which are mounted on the walls of those bathrooms in recent years, citing cost and environmental concerns as two of the reasons for this adaptation…

…but I have been unlucky numerous times, as at least one of those dispenser bottles has been empty or close to empty while I have been a guest.

This happened to me again recently after I arrived at the hotel property late at night, as the wall dispenser bottle which was supposed to contain shower gel was empty after literally only a couple of squirts.

Even more annoying is that the shower gel is also supposed to be used as hand soap, as no bar of soap was supplied in the bathroom of the hotel room. This means that every time I want to wash my hands, I must reach into the shower area where the dispenser bottles are mounted on the wall in order to use soap and pump the liquid into my hand before moving back to the sink to finish washing my hands — something which I find mildly annoying and inconvenient at best.

When informed of the issue, the employee behind the front desk cheerfully supplied a new bottle of shower gel — but she warned that it was in a container which was meant for conditioner…

Final Boarding Call

Somehow, I believe that when the amenities are in bulk wall dispenser bottles, members of the housekeeping staff at hotel and resort properties seem to be more lax in ensuring that they are properly refilled — yet they seem to be more diligent in ensuring that guests had the amenities they needed when they are in single-use bottles.

I wonder whatever happened to that bulk bottle of conditioner which was instead filled with shower gel…

…and do you really know exactly with what those bulk dispenser bottles which are mounted on the walls are filled?
